Money does buy you Happiness

Dear younger me,

Remember that school essay you proudly wrote — the one that started with “Money doesn’t buy happiness”? Yeah… about that. I hate to break it to you, but it was a lie.

Back then, happiness looked like laughter with friends, summer vacations, and birthday cakes that didn’t have a price tag.
But growing up changed the math. Suddenly, peace looked like paying rent on time, affording therapy, or just being able to buy that coffee that keeps your day from falling apart.

Money may not buy happiness — but it definitely buys comfort, security, freedom, and options — the very things that make happiness possible.

See, that’s the harsh truth we never really say out loud — money does buy happiness.

People who already have it love to say, “Money isn’t everything.”
And maybe for them, it isn’t — because they’ve never had to check their bank balance before ordering food, or cancel plans because “this month’s a little tight.”
But ask a middle-class person, or someone struggling to make ends meet — what is money for them?

It’s not greed. It’s not luxury.
It’s stability. It’s peace. It’s the comfort of knowing you can handle an emergency, take care of your family, or just breathe without constant financial anxiety. Because the truth is, it’s easy to romanticize “simple joys” when your bills are paid and your fridge is full.

Money might not buy happiness, but try being happy when your bills are overdue.

For most of us, money isn’t about greed — it’s about the freedom to breathe without guilt, sleep without worry, and live without fear.
And if that isn’t happiness, then what is?
